Mâcon and the Mâconnais district

Close to our charming hotel in Fleurville

When you stay at Le Château de Fleurville, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Mâcon and discover the wine cellars and vineyards of Mâconnais. Located 14 km from our charming hotel, the town of Mâcon on the banks of the Saône has a Mediterranean flair with colourful façades and round-tile roofs. Its historic centre houses exceptional monuments such as the Saint-Vincent Cathedral, the Saint-Pierre Church, the Maison de Bois (Wooden house), the Saint-Laurent Bridge, the Musée des Ursulines and the Musée Lamartine, dedicated to the 19th century statesman and republican Alphonse de Lamartine, who was born in Mâcon and spent his childhood at nearby Milly (now called Milly-Lamartine).

The Mâconnais district, the southernmost vineyard of Burgundy, stretches 50 km between Sennecey-le-Grand to the north and Saint-Véran to the south. It produces five renowned "village" AOC white wines (some of the most prestigious in Burgundy): Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Vinzelles, and Pouilly-Loché.
